Dragging Dad Up the Trail: A Hawaiian Vikings Family Hike Through Santiago Canyon This weekend, Valkyrie and Freyja decided it was time to summon their inner warrior guides—and drag their chubby, grumbling old dad up the Santiago Canyon hiking trail! With Grandma, Grandpa, and Mom leading the charge, our Hawaiian Vikings family set out for a day of fresh air, laughter, and blooming wildflowers that were showing off in full force.The sun was shining, the hills were glowing, and the trail was alive with color and life. Dad may have cursed every incline (and his bad back... and his knees...), but even he had to admit—it was a perfect day. Surrounded by nature and ohana, we were reminded that sometimes the best adventures are the ones we don’t plan, but get lovingly peer-pressured into.It wasn’t just a hike—it was a memory. Over 100 students came together at Huntington Beach for a powerful day of ocean cleanup, and Valkyrie and Freyja were proud to thank them with free Hawaiian Vikings gear. They especially loved meeting Kathren—a true warrior spirit balancing school, work, and giving back to her community.
